Elderly men with naturally higher levels of testosterone may be less likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke than their peers, researchers say.

A study of men in their 70s and 80s found the quarter of the group who had the highest levels of testosterone were 30 per cent less likely to have heart disease or stroke than the other.

Study leader Ana Tivesten, at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Goteborg, Sweden, said: ‘What we can say is that elderly men with high testosterone levels are relatively protected against cardiovascular events, and therefore lower testosterone is a marker for increased cardiovascular risk.’

The team analysed results from 2,400 Swedish men for the study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

They accounted for health factors known to lower testosterone, such as obesity and heart disease.
However, the results do not conclusively prove that the hormone itself deserves the credit.
JoAnn Manson, from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, who was not involved in the study, said: ‘Low testosterone may be a marker of other health conditions that put men at higher risk of cardiovascular disease.’
Potential reasons for why higher natural testosterone levels may be good for the heart include the fact that higher testosterone generally means less body fat and more lean muscle.

What’s needed, she added, is evidence from clinical trials that actually test whether testosterone replacement in older men cuts the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Those trials are ongoing and so far, she noted, the results are mixed on whether testosterone replacement improves “intermediate” outcomes like cholesterol or blood sugar levels.

This just in! No need for testosterone replacement theraphy. All Natural Testosterone Supplement Here.

Here are three great tips for a diet that will lead to a longer and healthier life!

Antioxidants and Aging

Eat foods rich in antioxidants to help fight free radicals — unstable oxygen molecules that contribute to the aging process. Antioxidants can be found in colorful vegetables and fruits like berries, beets, and tomatoes. For a balanced diet and to help you reduce your risk of developing cancer and heart disease, add at least five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables to your diet each day.

The Health Benefits of Olive Oil

Olive oil is a tasty monounsaturated fat that may positively affect memory. A compound in extra-virgin olive oil called oleocanthol is a natural anti-inflammatory and produces effects similar to ibuprofen and other NSAIDs. One study of men showed that olive oil, especially extra-virgin, increased HDL, the good cholesterol that clears fat from blood vessel walls — a condition known as atherosclerosis.

Benefits of Berries

Berries are a great source of antioxidants. Strawberries, blueberries, and acai berries are just some examples of polyphenol-rich berries. These powerful compounds may help combat cancers and degenerative diseases of the brain. Frozen berries contain polyphenols, too. Check out the grocery store’s freezer case and include berries in your diet year-round.

Menopausal and postmenopausal women may notice that they are not as easily aroused, and may be less sensitive to touching and stroking — which can result in decreased interest in sex.

In addition, lower levels of estrogen can cause a decrease in blood supply to the vagina. This decreased blood flow can affect vaginal lubrication, causing the vagina to be too dry for comfortable intercourse.

A lower estrogen level is not the only culprit behind a decreased libido; there are numerous other factors that may influence a woman’s interest in sexual activity during menopause and after. These include:

Bladder control problems
Sleep disturbances
Depression or anxiety
Stress
Medications
Health concerns

Don't let it happen to you.

What does testosterone have to do with midlife Crisis?

Well it doesn’t take too much of a stretch of imagination to understand. We men have always known that “feeling good” and testosterone boosts go hand-in-hand. But now that science has caught up to our grade 9 science class they finally have something to say.

A consistent finding in the scientific literature is that testosterone increase even by replacement therapy produces an increased feeling of well-being. Published studies show that low levels of free testosterone correlates with symptoms of depression and other psychological disorders.

According to www.lef.org the most frequent common side effect of prescription antidepressant drugs is the suppression of libido. This is NOT what we want. Those with depression either accept this drug-induced reduction in quality of life, or get off the antidepressant drugs so they can at least have a somewhat normal sex life.

If more psychiatrists had their clients blood tested for free testosterone and prescribed natural testosterone therapies to those with low free testosterone, the need for libido-suppressing antidepressant drugs could be reduced or eliminated.

Testosterone replacement often enhances libido, the opposite effect of most prescription antidepressants. One study showed that patients with major depression experienced improvement that was equal to that achieved with standard antidepressant drugs.

A 12-month clinical trial using Androderm resulted in a statistically significant reduction in the depression score (6.9 before versus 3.9 after). Also noted were highly significant decreases in fatigue: from 79% before the patch to only 10% after 12 months.

According to Jonathan Wright, M.D., co-author of Maximize Your Vitality & Potency, the following effects have been reported in response to low free testosterone levels:

Loss of ability to concentrate
Moodiness and emotionality
Touchiness and irritability
Great timidity
Feeling weak
Inner unrest
Memory failure
Reduced intellectual agility
Passive attitudes
General tiredness
Reduced interest in surroundings
The above feelings can also be clinical symptoms of depression, and testosterone replacement therapy has been shown to alleviate these conditions. Testosterone thus has exciting therapeutic potential in the treatment of depression in men.

More information on low testosterone symptoms here.

So why don’t doctors treat our hormones then instead? The answer is profound. Medical doctors in training for 7 years receive only 4 days teaching that covers “hormones”.
Yet when you go to see him; he is supposed to be in-the-know and likely won’t tell you that he doesn’t know. To him it is simpler to prescribe a drug to treat the symptom than to earnestly seek a cure in a region he knows very little about.

Even if you were to ask for a Testosterone Blood Test – they will test your total testosterone levels and report a scale of low / normal / high. These results mean absolutely nothing. “Normal” is interpreted as average for a midlife male between forty and sixty years old. Never mind that what is typically “average” for a midlife male is the results in the list above. My response to my doctor was “I have about all of the normal that I care to take!

The only blood test that will indicate true results is a bio-available testosterone test that measures how much free testosterone is not bound by SGBG or converted (aromatased) into Estrogen. A high level of total testosterone with a high level of Estrogen (E2) will yield the same results in the above list.

Doctors don’t / won’t treat our hormones because they do not know enough and are often resistant to their patients teaching them.

Two major cycles of a man in midlife crisis (depression & anxiety) are directly related to his current levels of bio-available free testosterone. We can deal effectively with much at the root of midlife male depression by inhibiting the conversion of your testosterone into estrogen. Furthermore we may release more bio-available testosterone to your receptors by reducing SHBG’s binding of free testosterone.

If you are a middle-aged man and you want to live a long time, all you need is a good lifestyle – some good genes would also help. Make sure you don’t become obese, remember to exercise regularly, keep your blood pressure down, avoid the boozy lifestyle and keep away from foods high in refined sugars, say experts from the Pacific Health Research Institute, Hawaii, USA.

You can read about this new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

If you look after yourself in this way your chances of reaching 85, and being healthy at that age, are five times greater than for men who stray off the beaten track.

The researchers looked at data on 5,820 Japanese/American males – they had been monitored for four decades. The men were initially monitored in 1965 – at that time they had an average age of 54 and were all healthy.

Learn about the risks of low testosterone here.

They were followed up in 2005. The scientists found that the following, either in isolation, or in combination, significantly influenced whether the men lived a long life, and also whether their extra years were healthy ones:

– obesity
– alcohol consumption (3+ drinks a day is too much)
– high blood sugar
– hypertension (high blood pressure)
– high level of triglycerides

All the factors listed here contributed towards a reduced lifespan and a higher chance of being unhealthy during old age.

Natural Testosterone Booster

They found that a man who had drunk a lot, was fat, had high blood pressure, smoked and had high levels of sugar and triglycerides in his blood would have a 78% chance of never living till the age of 85. His chances of reaching 90 were just 6%.

However, a man who had drunk either nothing or moderately, had not been overweight, exercised regularly, did not smoke, had normal blood pressure, normal blood sugar levels and normal levels of triglycerides, had a 69% chance of reaching 85 – and also being healthy at that age.

Dr. Bradley Willcox, study leader, was surprised at how starkly the different lifestyles influenced longevity and health. He said that smoking is the major factor here, closely followed by high blood sugar during middle age. The scientists also found that a middle-aged man’s grip strength was closely linked to his lifespan – the stronger his grip, the longer he is likely to live. As grip strength is linked to physical fitness, middle-aged men should make sure they do regular physical exercise, they said.

Other factors influence how healthy men are likely to be when they are old – the higher the academic level of a man, the healthier he is likely to be when he is old. Married men live longer than single men, but do not enjoy better health during old age (perhaps they live longer because their wives help them remember to go to their doctors, get their medications, and take them. Also, spouses can become carers).

You’re in an incredibly intimate moment, and you’re unable to perform. It’s an incredibly embarrassing subject for a lot of guys to talk about. It’s even more embarrassing to experience.

And it may be no fault of your own. By age 40, most men experience weak erections at some point in their lives.

The good news is that regardless of the cause, weak erections are treatable.

The inability to perform sexually can be attributed to a lot of different factors: stress, poor health, and others. Another possible cause is low testosterone. The first step is diagnosing the cause of the problem. Your symptoms should not be ignored as they could signal a serious health condition.

If you suffer from weak erections and other symptoms including a lack of energy or a decrease in libido, you could be a candidate for low testosterone! Don’t settle for less than your best and get the old you back. Click Here for more info.

Personal trainer Dan Bornstein recommends “multi-joint” exercises for middle-aged men. The more joints you’re moving, the more muscles you’re working. Try these:

Leg Press: Here, you’re lying down on a reclining chair with your knees bent and your feet on a platform. Your goal is to straighten out your legs, pushing the weighted platform away from you. This works the quadriceps muscles in the front of your thighs, the hamstrings in back of your thighs and the glutes, the muscles in your buttocks.

Learn how to Reduce Fat with a Natural Testosterone Supplement!

Lat Pull-Downs: For these you’re seated facting the machine. You reach for a bar that’s suspended above your head and pull it down to chest level in front of your head. Changing your grip, you can pull the bar down in back of your face to shoulder level, but approach this one carefully, as you can strain muscles in your neck. These exercises work the latissimus dorsi muscles in your back as well as your shoulders, biceps and forearms.
Seated Row: On a machine that simulates rowing, you bend forward to grasp a bar and then pull it back until you’re in a seated upright position. This works your upper back muscles as well as your biceps, forearms, shoulders, lower back, quads and hamstrings.

Chest Press: Here, you lie on a bench and push up a barbell attached to the machine. This works your chest and arm muscles, especially the triceps, as well as your anterior deltoids.

A message from Abraham Morgentaler, MD – an associate clinical professor of urology at Harvard Medical School:

Thanks to stories about doping Olympic athletes, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens, the words “testosterone” or “steroids” create unsavory associations. However, testosterone is a key hormone that has numerous important and beneficial functions in men. In fact, if it weren’t for testosterone, all little boys would be born with a labia instead of a scrotum! In adults, testosterone is important for normal sexual function, sperm production, as well as muscle development and tone. In my work as a urologist at Men’s Health Boston, I treat men with infertility (i.e., vasectomy reversal) and sexual problems. Many of these men are diagnosed with low levels of testosterone, or what I call “low T.”

Low T can also cause chronic fatigue, depression, and reduced muscular/athletic performance. Treatment with testosterone can improve erections and sex drive, restore muscle and reduce fat, and increase energy and motivation. I have written a book, Testosterone for Life (McGraw-Hill), to help men figure out if they have low T, and if so, how best to obtain treatment. New evidence suggests that normal testosterone levels are important for reducing the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and men with normal levels live longer than men with low T. However, stories about cheating athletes and muscle-crazed bodybuilders have given testosterone a bad name, and have created a number of myths. Here are five of the most common testosterone myths.

1- Testosterone is an illegal drug

Nope; testosterone is a perfectly legal prescription medication. It is also a key hormone present in every man that is responsible for fetal development of the male genitalia, the physical changes that occur during male puberty, and that contributes to a variety of functions in the adult man including sperm production, erections, sex drive, muscle tone, and bone health, among others. Testosterone is only illegal when it’s used without a physician’s prescription. However, many sports organizations have strict rules regarding substances such as testosterone that may influence athletic performance. Athletes who violate the rules of their sport are cheating, and lying about it to Congress may lead to prison time.

2- Testosterone is a steroid, and steroids are dangerous

Testosterone is a steroid, but that doesn’t make it dangerous. In fact, we’re all naturally loaded with various kinds of steroids. The word “steroid” simply refers to a molecule with a “backbone” of four rings of carbon – examples include estrogen, progesterone, cortisol, and even cholesterol. Clearly, when an athlete tests positive for “steroids,” no one is concerned that he injected himself with cholesterol. In the sports world, the word “steroid” is shorthand for an “anabolic steroid hormone,” meaning steroids that specifically act to build muscle and bone, like testosterone. Whereas testosterone has been shown to be relatively safe, even at high concentrations, there is almost no information at all about the safety of the newer “designer” steroids produced to escape detection in drug testing.

Natural Testosterone Supplement!

3- Testosterone causes uncontrollable violent behavior

There is absolutely no reliable evidence that testosterone causes “’roid rage” or any type of violent, aggressive or uncontrollable behavior. No violence, aggression or unpredictable behavior has been seen in studies where men were administered testosterone, even at extremely high doses. In fact, the opposite appears to be true; many men with low T describe being more irritable, or having a short fuse, and this often improves with normalization of testosterone levels. A recent patient treated with testosterone told me that his wife found him “unbearable” to be around before he was diagnosed with low T and subsequently treated; “I’m a nicer guy now,” he said.

4- Testosterone causes prostate cancer

New evidence conclusively shows that men with higher levels of testosterone are at no greater risk of developing prostate cancer than men with low testosterone. Moreover, treating men with testosterone has not been shown to cause any increased risk of prostate cancer either. The basis for this myth originated from studies in the 1940s in which men with metastatic prostate cancer showed benefits when they were castrated. It appears that the only men at risk for prostate cancer growth with higher testosterone are men who have already been castrated. An exciting, but controversial, development is the use of testosterone to treat symptomatic men with low T who have undergone prior therapy for prostate cancer (I have a special chapter on this in my book, Testosterone For Life).

5- Higher testosterone causes baldness

On average, men with male pattern baldness have the same testosterone levels as men with a full head of hair. Baldness seems to be genetically determined. The confusion arises because medicines like finasteride (Propecia) that block conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) can prevent or treat baldness. Since only very small amounts of DHT are needed by the scalp to do what the genes tell them to do (in this case, lose hair), men who are pre-destined to pull a Kojak will do so whether their T concentrations are high or low.

Once you hit middle age as a man, it may not be so easy to make room for healthy living. You may be getting tired more easily and, much to your surprise, discovering that you can’t do some of the same activities that you were able to in your 20s or even your 30s, without incurring any pain in parts of your body. If that is your situation, then consider these three tips for middle aged men. You just may be able to turn around those middle-aged doldrums into something coming close to healthy living once more.

1. Natural Dietary Supplements

As a middle aged man, you have a higher risk of contracting certain illnesses and diseases that your younger counterparts simply do not have to worry about (yet). For instance, something that middle aged men are at a greater risk of getting is cardiovascular disease, so to stave this potentially lethal condition off as long as possible, take vitamin C along with vitamin E supplements, and omega-3 fish oil which has recently been shown to be very important to heart health. Another very important supplement which most people overlook is vitamin D. Recent research studies show that we need much more vitamin D than originally believed, and it is recommended that the ideal dosage for most people is 5000 units of vitamin D3 every day (rather than the formerly recommended dosage of only 400 units a day).

2. Eating Healthy

A healthy eating regimen goes hand-in-hand with getting your natural dietary supplements, if you want to protect your health. It is extremely important to get several servings of fruit and vegetables every day (many doctors recommend between 8 and 10 servings). Avoid simple carbs (like sugar, white flour, white rice, etc.) as much as possible, and eat whole grains instead. This will help to prevent increased blood sugar levels which can lead to diabetes.

3. Exercise

Regular exercise is the third leg in this triad of healthy living tips for middle aged men. Some benefits of regular exercise are a lower risk for heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and other serious diseases, as well as weight reduction and even a slowing down of the visible signs of aging. Just remember to always stretch before and after your exercise sessions to cut down on injuries.

Testosterone is known to be the most important anabolic (muscle building) compound in the human body. It accelerates muscle building, increases the formation of red blood cells, and speeds up recovery time after injuries or illness. It also stimulates your metabolism which determines how quickly you burn fat.

Young men, 18-25, want to maximize the testosterone they produce naturally to build muscle, and compete in their chosen sports. Men who are 25-40 want more muscle mass, strength and endurance. After men reach 40, testosterone levels start to decrease every year. This decline results in a reduction in muscle mass, strength, sexual desire, and mental capacity. Boosting the natural production of testosterone can help fight these issues.

On January 20, 2005, the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2004 went into effect. This law, signed by President Bush, effectively eliminated nearly all prohormone supplements from the marketplace if they were structurally related to or had effects like that of testosterone.

The following is information on natural testosterone boosters that are legally available, but don’t have the inherent problems that prohormones could cause.

Any product that is not chemically or pharmacologically related to testosterone is legal and available to boost testosterone naturally.

This means there are still a number of natural testosterone boosters available ranging from herbs to minerals!
